Blackberry Has Sued Facebook For Copyright Infringement

Blackberry has sued social networking site Facebook for copyright infringement, alleging the company stole its technology and used it for Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger. The lawsuit has been filed in U.S. District Court in California. Blackberry's intellectual property is not open source material and any use thereof without permission, constitutes copyright infringement under federal law and United Nations' treaties (Berne Convention).

Facebook haughtily responded to the copyright infringement lawsuit by stating, "Blackberry's suit sadly reflects the current state of its messaging business. Having abandoned its efforts to innovate, Blackberry is now looking to tax the innovation of others. We intend to fight."

It is ironic that Facebook's attorney Paul Grewal would make such a statement, considering Blackberry is the favorite of former U.S. President, Barack Obama, whom Facebook routinely and criminally violated the privacy of Americans and international citizens for, in backend spying sent straight to Obama's FBI, NSA, CIA and Justice Department. In fact, corrupt former FBI Director, Robert S. Mueller, personally pursued Zuckerberg for this purpose, tracking him down at an event.

It always repulses me when offenders make self-righteous statements about fighting allegations in court (as Facebook's lawyer has done), when they know full well they committed the offenses. It looks crazy and arrogant to play the victim when you're the perpetrator. It would better serve your purposes to shut your mouth and do what other lawbreakers have done - disgracefully look for loopholes in the law and the legal filing in question, as a means of wriggling out of facing justice in a court of law, via a corruptly gained dismissal.

Previously, Blackberry sued Nokia for copyright infringement and patent infringement and won an $800,000,000 settlement from its parent company Qualcomm. A company does not hand over that much money without there being merit to the lawsuit. The allegations against Facebook are also strong enough for Blackberry to risk going to court. Blackberry have clearly found items from their source code and related intellectual property inside Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp products.

Blackberry stated in reference to Facebook's statement, "Protecting shareholder assets and intellectual property is the job of every CEO, it is not central to Blackberry's strategy however. We have a lot of respect for Facebook and the value they've placed on messaging capabilities, some of which were invented by Blackberry."

I am of the belief Facebook should not have been permitted to buy Instagram and WhatsApp, as they are engaging in monopolistic practices in trying to control social networking and attempting to destroy the competition via outright copyright infringement and patent infringement. Customers choices are now limited and site users are being discriminated against if they don't post items that are in line with the liberal political agenda.

Facebook is owned by liberal, Mark Zuckerberg, who is no stranger to stealing. The movie "The Social Network" unmasked Zuckerberg as a greedy thief with a chip on his shoulder, who stole the intellectual property of others to take control of Facebook, a website that was the idea of Harvard students, the Winklevoss twins (Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss) and Divya Narendra. Zuckerberg also betrayed and ripped off Facebook co-founder, Eduardo Saverin, whose intellectual property and money helped to create the site while they were at Harvard.

More recently, Zuckerberg also ripped off Snapchat and integrated their intellectual property into Instagram. It's only a matter of time before that greed ruins Zuckerberg, as it has done to others who took the wretched path he is on. And sooner rather than later. You don't put that kind of bad out into the universe via such grand scale thievery, greed and treachery and it not come back to you in a massive way. Some call it karma. Some call it, "What goes around comes around." Either way, it's very real.

BlackBerry is suing Facebook for copyright infringement, and Facebook ‘intends to fight’

Mar 6, 2018, 3:53pm EST - BlackBerry, a former messaging powerhouse, is suing Facebook, a current messaging powerhouse, for copyright infringement, according to a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in California. BlackBerry claims that Facebook “created mobile messaging applications that co-opt BlackBerry’s innovations,” and cite a number of patents that cover things like messaging security and messaging notifications.

The company also says that Facebook is using its IP in a number of its products, including Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram. In a statement from Facebook’s Deputy General Counsel Paul Grewal, Facebook dismissed BlackBerry’s claims and promised to fight. “BlackBerry’s suit sadly reflects the current state of its messaging business,” the statement reads. “Having abandoned its efforts to innovate, BlackBerry is now looking to tax the innovation of others.
