India To The FBI: RSVP

FBI Held In Mumbai

December 1. 2008

FBI Director Robert Mueller

Typical of FBI headquarters in the Bush administration, they show up wherever they feel like, all over the globe, without calling first. It didn’t fly in Mumbai when the FBI flew in with loads of equipment and without notice to the host government.

Note to Robert Mueller: who do you think you are, the CIA, that you can just waltz in and out of people’s countries illegally without asking first. You’ve got the wrong three letters, buddy.

Seriously, didn’t the Miami FBI just hold a man for doing that this year – acting as an agent of a foreign country without notice to the U.S. government.

Considering what Mumbai has been through, the considerate, correct thing to do would have been to call or send written notification first, as they are reasonably concerned about all traffic coming into their nation, especially with equipment, after the atrocities perpetrated on them last week by foreigners.

FBI team detained at Mumbai airport, released later

Authorities at the airport came in for a surprise when a special plane carrying the FBI team and special forensic equipment landed in the city, official sources said.

The team was detained by the Customs and Immigration authorities as it had neither sought permission to arrive nor had made a request in advance for bringing in the forensic equipment, they said.

Immediately, after being not allowed permission, the FBI team got in touch with their Mission in New Delhi who in turn contacted officials in External Affairs Ministry.

Finally, the issue was resolved and the team was allowed to come in but only after providing the list of equipment that the team were carrying, the sources said.
